Letter to Parents from Local Authority 4-1-21

Dear Parent/Carer,
Blwyddyn Newydd Dda! I trust that you had an enjoyable and safe Christmas holiday.
Please find attached a letter from the Local Authority confirming that there will be no face-to-face teaching in Swansea schools until 11th January at the earliest. Instead, we will be providing remote learning for all our pupils from Wednesday 6th January – Friday 8th January this week. It is essential that all pupils undertake this work on Google Classroom to ensure that they keep up with their learning. We will provide the full curriculum, five hours per day, following the normal school timetable for Week 1. Your support is much appreciated in ensuring that your children are participating as fully as possible in their remote learning.
As the attached letter explains, we will also support in school the children of keyworkers who need this facility in order to attend work themselves from Wednesday – Friday. This will run from 9.00 a.m. – 3.00 p.m. each day. We will need to know by the end of the day on Tuesday 5th January if you need to access this provision. You can let us know by sending a return email or, if you have received a text message because you don\’t have an email address, by return text message. We will need to know the name of your child or children, what day or days they will be attending and during what times. There will be no canteen service this week and so any pupil attending the keyworker provision will have to bring their own food/drink. Normal procedures will apply in relation to social distancing, hand hygiene and the wearing of face masks. We will also be making contact with some of our most vulnerable pupils and may invite some of these to be supported with their learning in school.
While our aim is to get all our pupils back into school as quickly as possible, we must do so safely and will continue to follow the national and local requirements with regard to the start of this term. We will confirm that start date for face-to-face learning once we have received that information.
The school office will be staffed from 8.00 a.m. – 4.00 p.m. on Wednesday – Friday this week if you need any further information or wish to communicate with us.
